Marble Polishing Insures its Timeless Beauty

These tools are needed for polishing marbles:(1) a wet machine for grinding/polishing/sanding;(2)four each of the 50-, 120-, 220-, 400-, 800-grit diamond polishing pads;(3) 1-inch thick white polish pad; (4)white driver pad; (5)marble paste; (6)clean towels; (7)polishing powder; (8)wet-vac; (9)stone sealer; (10)masking tape; (11) protective mask and gloves; (12) paint brushes that are solvent-resistant.

Polishing marble at home used various sizes of diamond polishing pads with a commercial grade polisher or an electric sanding machine. Follow these steps:

Step 1: To safeguard thearea closed to the marble that is damaged from water exposure, use masking tape or tarping to shield any unremovable items.

Step 2: Start the procedure by removing any existing sealant or wax from the marble completely shaking a stripper.

Step 3: Apply a coating of top quality stripper to the marble surface by using a solvent-resistant paint brush. As the stripper begins to blister after a few minutes, do not let it harden; use a clean rag to brush or wipe it off.  You can apply more strippers until the bottom layers and remove it in the same way.

Step 4: Begin the sanding process by attaching the coarsest grit of the diamond polishing pads to the sanding machine and coveringwith clean & cold water the project surface. Repeat two to four passes with the same side-to-side motion.

Step 5: Remove the rest of the wax after making a few passes with the coarser grit to thoroughly wet - dry vacthe floor to cover all areas.

Step 6: Add the buffer pad to the machine as the final stage of the marble polishing; at the same time, dispensethe amount of polishing powder on the surface. Small sections of the surface must be quickly buffed until the polish becomes shiny and vacuum or dust-mop it to remove any debris.
